PDS are active in the area of road toll systems, having developed from scratch the PERMIT automatic tolls and cash management system for Tyne Tunnel, a solution based on automatic tag based vehicle identification facilities.

PDS capability to interface and coordinate the specialist sub systems means that such as Automatic Vehicle Classification, CCTV/Queue monitoring, cash collection via Automated Coin Machines, and the associated road signage can all be coordinated and provided through one source in a coherent and low risk project solution.

The overall project approach by PDS presents opportunities to combine and coordinate traffic data from the Toll Collection System with the separate PMS, ITS, communication and radio road systems elements into a fully integrated system.
